Hello Summer! (The Final Post)

Well kids, it’s official.  I have now successfully completed my first year of college!  As exciting as this is, it is also quite scary.  My entire freshman year feels like a blur.  I have no idea where the time went.  Note to all future college freshmen: time flies when you’re having fun.  Those are the only words of wisdom I can think to give you at this point. On a happier note, summer is here!  Time for pool parties, ice cream sundaes, and ITALY!!  YAY!  Ravenna is calling my name!  (In Italian, of course.)  I am so excited for the many adventures this summer will bring.I want to give a shout-out to all of the amazing friends I have made here at Richmond.  It has been great getting to know you, and I will miss you so much next year.  Especially my roommate Calli–the best roommate I could ever ask for.  Thanks for putting up with me these past nine months.  Love you!  Don’t worry, I’ll be visiting lots next semester. And to all the readers, thank you so much for reading my posts.  Sorry if my life is a bit boring (haha).  I hope I at least taught you something you didn’t know about Richmond.Well, I guess this is goodbye!  I wish you all the best of luck, wherever life may take you!  Don’t worry, be happy!  :)Love always, Kristen

Bye-bye, Richmond! :(

As I sit here studying for my final exams, I find time to reflect on my first year of college.  Yesterday was the last day of classes.  (Sad!)  Above all, I’m really going to miss my Core class.  I know this may sound weird because people definitely have much different opinions about Core, but my class was amazing.  We got to know each other over the course of the year and became like a little family.  On Wednesday night, we all had dinner at our professor’s house.  It was a great way to wrap up our year together.Best Core class ever!  :) core.jpgAnd a silly one, of course!core-silly.jpgWalking away from Core for the last time!  :( core-3.jpgI will always look back on my freshman year at Richmond with fond memories.  Although it was a difficult adjustment at first, I eventually came to appreciate the experience in ways I never thought possible.  In saying this, I have a bit of an announcement to make.  I will not be returning to Richmond next semester.  The reasons for this are purely financial, and I hope you will understand that I do not wish to discourage you in any way from applying and/or attending UR.  It is a wonderful school, and I will miss it very much. Now, on to summer vacation plans!  Before transferring, I am going to take full advantage of Richmond’s excellent study-abroad program!  I, along with my Italian professor and several other UR students, will be leaving on May 24th to study in Ravenna, Italy for five weeks.  We will be staying with families and taking two semesters of Italian language while we are there.  Needless to say, I cannot wait!  What a fantastic way to end my journey at UR.Following my study-abroad, I will be returning home to work for the rest of my summer vacation.  If you happen to visit Richmond sometime in July or August, please consider driving 30 miles south to Midlothian, where you can experience the amazingness that is The Desserterie.  We sell European gelato, cakes, cookies and pastries.  :)  Yum, yum!I wish everyone luck on college decisions.  I know it can be a very difficult process, but it will work out in the end!  I’ll be writing one more “goodbye” post after finals, so don’t start tearing up just yet!<3 Kristen

It’s all Downhill From Here!

Hello Readers!I am extremely busy studying for a calculus exam right now, but I figured I could take a few minutes to give you an update on my life.  First, let me just comment on the beautiful weather we’ve been having this week!  Absolutely amazing!  I love it.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend very much time outside today.  I worked from 7-11:30 this morning, then went to the gym for a few hours, took a shower, and started studying.  I wrote an Italian composition  on how much I would love to be a professional food taster…that was interesting.  Other than that, it’s mostly been busy-work. The good news is, tomorrow’s FRIDAY!  And it’s supposed to be 85 degrees outside, which means I will be going to the baseball game.  Gotta support the team! That’s about it for now…I’ll try to keep you informed on my progress throughout the next few weeks.  After that, it’s off to Ravenna, Italy for five weeks!  YAY Summer!!  :)
