Last week, my girlfriend and I ventured to the Gardenfest at the local botanical gardens. I don't spend a ton of time in botanical gardens, and I would never think to visit one in the winter, but the Gardenfest blew my mind. Every inch of plant life that can bear weight is covered in Christmas lights across the entire Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, and it's awesome.
There are fire pits set up where you can purchase marshamallows, chocolate and graham crackers and make your own s'mores. (Marshmallow stick provided). Even though the smoke from the fire temporarily blinded me as my marshamallow caught on fire, s'mores are a gift from God.
As someone who loves shiny objects, I can say 10/10 would recommend Gardenfest, which is really Candyland with lightbulbs instead of candy. It's shiny, there's marshmallows, and a giant lightshow to top if all off. I don't know what else you need to kick off the holiday season.
I'm always hungry, usually talking, and an occasionally funny senior double majoring in Journalism and Leadership Studies with a minor in Business Administration. I am the Vice-President of Academic Affairs for the Richmond College Student Government Association, an Associate Editor with The Collegian, the student newspaper, and a brother of Theta Chi Fraternity. This past summer I interned for the Washington Redskins official website, Redskins.com. I am probably procrastinating as you read this.
