Hey everyone, I am so excited. Our football team pulled off an unbelievable comeback last Saturday and beat Northern Iowa to advance to the National Championship game on Friday evening. I got off the plane and into the frozen tundra and hawkishly watched the game unfold. We led 7-3 at halftime, but came out very slow in the second half. With 11:00 remaining in the fourth quarter, we were trailing 20-7. However, we got a touchdown and thought we were back in it. However, our next drive stalled. With a little over two minutes left, we were stopped on 4th and 1 in Northern Iowa territory. Everyone thought it was over. However, our defense held and our offense drove seventy yards down the field in less than two minutes and with no timeouts to score a touchdown and win 21-20. It was an amazing game. It’s been hard to find highlights to embed, so following this link should get you to them.

I wish I could have been there somehow. It’s really fun for me to watch our team because, since our school only has 3,000 students compared to the almost 15,000 of many of the other schools that we play, I know several of the players. I had CORE with one of our star wide receivers. I had sculpture with our star quarterback, who happens to be an Art History major. I have Rhetoric classes and regularly text with one of the linemen and I’ve also had a few classes with several of the other players. In my Accounting class, I also sat next to one of our baseball players who was named the National Player of the Week by College Baseball Insider this past spring. So, it’s really neat to see these great athletes on the field on the weekends but right next to you in class on the weekdays.

Since we made the National Championship, we will play Friday night, December 19th, at 8:00 PM EST on ESPN 2 against the Montana Grizzlies in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Several of my friends are going to the game and it should be a great one. Watch it if you can. Just wanted to let you know how great our football team is. That’s all for now.
